“Kite” skirt, burgundy brocade

Once upon a time, there was an incredibly powerful, striking dance theatre production. In the show, a highly prominent role was given to women flapping and spinning in the form of kites (birds of prey), who had their alcoholic, abusive husbands killed. The entire story is heartbreaking and astounding. Our “Kite” skirts were initially made for this dance theatre performance, hence the name.

Cut from genuine brocade, it features a medium-wide waistband and a zipper closure. We decorated it with satin ribbons of various widths and edged the bottom with cotton lace matching the colour of the skirt.

As it has a strongly traditional/folk cut, we mainly recommend it for folk dance groups, as practice skirts, for dance theatre pieces, etc. It’s a bit unusual as an everyday wear, but it can look especially eye-catching with a simple, modern top.
