“Barberry” gauze blouse, black-blue

Part of our cross-stitch ‘Barberry’ collection, in memory of the women who walked here before us, lovingly preserving the traces of their steps.

For the material, we chose a cotton gauze fabric, woven under home-industry conditions in Transylvania. The cut and shape of the blouse trace back to ancient times fading into the mist of thousands of years ago. We added cotton lace trim to the neckline, hem, and sleeve ends, and the cuffs were gathered in multiple rows with elastic thread. At the neck, it ties with a decorative tasselled cotton cord matching the colour of the embroidery. Its ornament is an ancient cross-stitch pattern with pomegranates, originating from the eastern regions. We summoned the embroidery straight from the depth of our souls using blue cotton thread.

While it’s not just for special occasions and it can brighten everyday life, it still bestows a special, mysterious, ancient radiance upon its wearer.
